CORE CURRICULUM AND EDUCATION STANDARDS

SBAM supports modifying the graduation requirements to allow students to pursue a career and technical education path towards graduation.  (LAC 4/13/09)

SBAM supports a mandated core curriculum issued by the State Board of Education.  SBAM is also in support of allowing schools to do anything not expressly prohibited by the School Code. (LAC 10/31/95) (BOARD APPROVED 11/9/95)

SBAM believes that small businesses and educational institutions must work together from kindergarten through college graduation to help design and evaluate educational programs that will more closely match education to required job skills. ENTREPRENEURIAL EDUCATION

SBAM supports including economic and entrepreneurial education in graduation requirements on both the K-12 and college level. (SBAM Action Agenda 2/88) (LAC ANALYSIS – Education Reform)

FUNDING

SBAM opposes proposals which would guarantee annual increases for education on the basis that it circumvents the annual legislative appropriations process and guarantees a funding increase regardless of other priorities.  (LAC 1/10/06)

JOB TRAINING

SBAM supports the development and implementation of comprehensive public and private education and training programs that will upgrade the skills of those already in the workforce, retain displaced workers and provide for the competent preparation of new entrants into the labor force. LABOR DAY SCHOOL START
