    Employer mandate provision delayed until 2015

    The requirement that businesses provide their workers with health insurance or face fines – a key provision contained in President Barack Obama's widespread health care law – will be delayed until January 1, 2015, after the congressional elections in 2014. [ 07/04/2013 ]

    Summary of Benefits and Coverage

    According to new regulations of the PPACA, a Summary of Benefits & Coverage must be provided to employers and individuals “when shopping for coverage, enrolling in coverage, at each new plan year, and within seven business days of requesting a copy from their health insurance issuer or group health plan."     Will temporary employees be covered under the Affordable Care Act?

    The fast answer is “likely.”  Beginning in 2014, large employers—i.e., those with at least 50 full-time employees working at least 30 hours weekly or 130 hours monthly, on average—who want to offer group health insurance must extend that coverage to these employees or pay a penalty.
