Michigan’s Unemployment Insurance Agency Announce February 23 Go-Live Date for MIUI

Last month, the Unemployment Insurance Agency (UIA) announced a delay to the launch for their new MiUI application, which was originally planned for a December release. On Monday, UIA shared that MiUI will officially now go live on Monday, February 23, 2026, for employers and third-party administrators (TPAs).
This means the UIA’s current system, MiWAM, will begin to phase out. The Agency announced a temporary blackout starting at 4:30 pm Wednesday, February 18th through Sunday, February 22nd as Agency staff work to move data to the new system. On Monday, February 23rd, access to MiWAM will be restored, although all employer functions will be removed from the application and converted to the new MiUI system.
How Employers can Prepare for the New System:
UIA have recommended five things employers can do to prepare now for MiUI.
- Your system administrator(s) and any other users associated with your Employer/TPA should have a MiLogin for Business account.
- Confirm you can access your MiWAM account. You will need your MiUI activation code from your MiWAM account to initiate your new MiUI account.
- Review and update contact information, payment methods, and user permissions in MiWAM.
- Review current TPA-employer associations and role assignments, and understand what roles the TPAs will have in MiUI.
- Review the MiUI wage report file formats and test your files with the Wage Report File Validation tool to prepare for your first submission.
The Agency has more information listed on their MiUI University website.
We at SBAM will continue to keep members updated on the latest developments and requirements for this new system.
