Child Care Business Essentials is a support hub designed specifically for child care providers and entrepreneurs across Michigan.
Through this program, you’ll gain access to practical tools, expert guidance, and targeted resources to help you strengthen and grow your child care business – whether you’re just getting started or looking to expand.
This is not a one-size-fits-all program. It’s built to meet providers where they are and connect them with the business support they actually need.
Each year, 15-20 women entrepreneurs will be selected for a nine-month program designed to support their business growth through workshops, peer-to-peer problem-solving, network building, and mentorship with other experienced entrepreneurs.
The Women’s Entrepreneurial Fellowship is available to eligible women business owners as part of the SBAM Foundation’s SBSH Grant Program. Once accepted into this special cohort, all programming will be offered at no cost through the end of June 2027.

Michigan’s small business economy remains strong and stable, but is no longer advancing, according to the 22nd edition of the Entrepreneurship Score Card. This annual analysis combines dozens of metrics and measures to create a comprehensive evaluation of Michigan’s economic strength, with an emphasis on the entrepreneurial economy.
The Score Card shows that Michigan small businesses still anchor the state’s private-sector employment and payroll, has a large and growing base of self-employed businesses and continues to show strong business survival rates. At the same time, the state’s small business growth has slowed, and Michigan is not keeping up with national trends. These changes indicate a loss of momentum in Michigan’s entrepreneurial economy.
From regional meetups to statewide summits, our events help small business owners expand networks, sharpen skills, and stay ahead of changes shaping Michigan commerce.
