Exploring Opportunities from the Start: Kendo Gymnastics & Cheer’s Experience with SBAM Energy Solutions

Starting a new business means making countless decisions and looking for resources that can help set the business up for long-term success.

For Kendo Gymnastics & Cheer, LLC, that included exploring opportunities through SBAM Energy Solutions.

Owned by Coach Bridget McDonald, Kendo Gymnastics & Cheer offers recreational gymnastics for children ages 2 through adult, along with competitive programs in Trampoline & Tumbling (T&T), Acrobatic Gymnastics, and Rhythmic Gymnastics. The gym also offers cheer gymnastics, clinics, and all-boys classes designed for active, energetic kids.

McDonald joined SBAM to strengthen her knowledge and skills as a small business owner and quickly began learning about the many resources available through membership.

During the construction and buildout of the gym, she learned about energy-efficiency opportunities available through DTE Energy and connected with SBAM Energy Advocate Caile Richards to learn more.

As she explored those opportunities, McDonald saw value in taking advantage of programs designed to help businesses operate efficiently.

“I would suggest other new businesses explore DTE’s efficient and economical options for their business,” she said.

For McDonald, it’s all part of her commitment to serving her community and building a strong business for the families she works with every day.

“Anything that I can do to create the best outcomes for the community I serve is worth the effort,” she said.

That proactive mindset is what SBAM Energy Solutions is all about. Through complimentary energy assessments, Michigan small businesses can learn about available energy-saving opportunities, utility programs, and resources that may help support their business goals.
