The Small Business Association of Michigan today announced the hiring of Alexa Kramer as its Director of Government Operations.
“The addition of Alexa Kramer to our team will accelerate SBAM’s impact at the state Capitol,” said SBAM President Brian Calley. “Alexa’s political, policy and research background both in Michigan and Washington D.C. will be a tremendous asset to Michigan’s small businesses.”
Kramer joins SBAM after serving as the Grand Rapids Chamber of Commerce’s Director of Government Affairs, where she covered education and workforce development, as well as tax and regulatory affairs. She also provided policy and logistical management for the West Michigan Policy Forum, an affiliate of the Chamber.
“Michigan’s small businesses are critical to our economy and have been through the ringer during the pandemic,” Kramer said. “I’m extremely honored to advocate on their behalf with SBAM, working to ensure they have the best chance to succeed and thrive now and into the future.”
Kramer attended Michigan State University where she earned her bachelor’s degree in political science/pre-law and her master’s degree in public policy. Alexa was a 2021 Grand Rapids Business Journal 40 under 40 award winner, is a 2020 graduate of Leadership Grand Rapids and a fellow for the Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives’ Education and Talent Development program. She also is part of the first-ever Leadership Network Millennial Cohort with the American Enterprise Institute.
She will start with SBAM on November 8.
