Clean Energy Update
January 27, 2015
In last Tuesday’s State of the State address, Gov. Rick Snyder highlighted energy as a priority for 2015. One of Snyder’s goals is reducing energy waste—helping small businesses reduce their energy costs while reducing pollution. For many small businesses, energy can be one of the biggest costs of doing business.
Many small business owners have taken advantage of utility optimization programs, reducing energy waste and saving money by updating appliances, lighting and insulation. These programs have been highly successful, saving customers more than $4 for every $1 invested.
In March, Gov. Snyder is expected to deliver a special message on energy. We should be prepared for a robust discussion on energy policy over the coming weeks and months—stay tuned for updates.
