Deadline Extended — Nominations due Nov. 16th for Michigan Celebrates Small Business awards
October 3, 2012
On May 2, 2013 the Michigan Celebrates Small Business awards will put the spotlight on Michigan’s successful companies.
Here are the award categories, and how to nominate a company.
Michigan 50 Companies to Watch
Specifically for second-stage companies headquartered in the state of Michigan, this award honors 50 private businesses annually. Besides demonstrating growth in employee and revenues, these companies are remarkable for high performance in their marketplace, innovative products, unique processes or philanthropic actions. This award seeks companies from a range of industries and from all regions of Michigan. All candidates must submit an application, and companies need not be nominated to apply.
Urban Small Business & Entrepreneurship Award
To be considered for this award, entrepreneurs and companies must be headquartered in a designated urban community (e.g., including but not limited to Saginaw, Detroit, Flint, Grand Rapids, Kalamazoo and Lansing) for a minimum of three years.
Small Business Person of the Year Award
An individual who owns and operates or bears principal responsibility for operation of a small business may be nominated. Partners who jointly own and operate a business may be nominated as a “team” so long as the team consists of four or fewer individuals.
To be eligible for this award, the product or service must have been developed by the applicant and earned revenue for the first time during the previous three years (from Nov. 2, 2009). The innovation must be by a Michigan company with fewer than 500 employees.
