Small Business Association of Michigan names Rep. Carol Glanville a 2025 Legislator of the Year

June 18, 2025

LANSING, MI – The Small Business Association of Michigan (SBAM) has honored Rep. Carol Glanville of West Michigan as a 2025 Legislator of the Year.

“Representative Glanville has emerged as a strong ally on issues of critical importance to small business owners, such as childcare and the costly consequences of sweeping mandates,” said Brian Calley, President and CEO of SBAM. “She has worked tirelessly to protect small businesses and shown dedication to deeply understanding the threats they face to growth and success. Her comprehension of the small business ecosystem is why we’re proud to honor Rep. Glanville as a 2025 Legislator of the Year.”

“Whether it was helping shed light on a potential harmful budget cut to private childcare providers or voicing the need for changes to the Earned Sick Time Act and phaseout of the tipped wage credit – Representative Glanville took the time and effort to understand the compounding effects on our small employers. Her ability to work across the aisle is another reason she was chosen for this award. She approaches every issue with discernment and constructive dialogue.”

SBAM honored Glanville for being a strong voice for small business in Lansing as well as in her district.

“I’m honored to be chosen as a 2025 SBAM Legislator of the Year,” Rep. Glanville said. “Small businesses fuel the economy in every corner of our state and step up to serve the unique needs of their community, as well as lend to the unique character and vibrancy of each. For that I am grateful, and in return, I’m committed to ensuring that their unique concerns have strong representation in Lansing.”

Glanville represents the 84th District in the Michigan House, which includes Grandville, Walker, and northwest Grand Rapids. She is a member of Appropriations Committee, serving as vice chair of the School Aid and Department of Education Appropriations Subcommittees, as well as serving on the Medicaid and Behavioral Health subcommittee and Joint Capital Outlay.

The award was presented to Rep. Glanville on June 17 during SBAM’s annual meeting in Lansing.
