Legislative tour highlights clean energy efforts at Bell’s Brewery, WMU and KVCC

On Friday, February 6, Sen. Margaret O’Brien and Rep. Brandt Iden hosted a clean energy bus tour to highlight clean-energy projects in Southwest Michigan that save businesses money and create jobs.
Participants included Congressman Fred Upton, Sen. John Proos, Reps. David Maturen and Aric Nesbitt, Portage Mayor Peter Strazdas, Keith den Hollander of the Christian Coalition of Michigan, Patricia Birkholz of the Michigan League of Conservation Voters and Rob Sisson of ConservAmerica.
Stops on the tour included Bell’s Brewery, Western Michigan University and Kalamazoo Valley Community College. Bell’s Brewery generates 60 percent of its electricity from renewable sources and WMU has the largest rooftop solar panel system in Michigan. KVCC is training students for jobs in the growing wind industry.
