President Brian Calley Thanks Supreme Court For Scheduling Oral Arguments on Minimum Wage, Sick Leave

April 3, 2019

LANSING, MI

Small Business Association of Michigan President Brian Calley today praised the decision by the Michigan Supreme Court to hear arguments on the constitutionality of the state’s minimum wage and paid sick time laws.

“We are thankful that the court has agreed to take up the question as to the constitutionality of PA 368 and PA 369 of 2018,” said Calley. “While we are confident that both public acts were passed in accordance with the authority vested in the legislature by the constitution, the Supreme Court has the opportunity to improve the jobs climate by removing any uncertainty. Further, this acceptance by the Supreme Court would seemly rule out the possibility of an intervening AG opinion in the meantime, which Michigan’s small businesses will greatly appreciate.”
