In this course participants will learn how to create and manage budgets. They will also learn how to analyze budget variances effectively.
This course will be held virtually on September 24, from 9:00am to 12:30pm. The course is limited to 12 grant participants.
This course is designed to help participants build a solid foundation in budgeting and variance analysis. You’ll move beyond guesswork and learn how to forecast, track, and improve financial performance through effective budgeting practices. Discover the types of budgets that best fit your organization’s needs and how to use them to align spending with strategic goals. The course also provides a repeatable, practical process for creating accurate and actionable budgets that earn stakeholder approval and serve as a reliable tool for guiding performance.
Upon completion of this course, the learner will be able to:
• Understand the difference between operational, capital, zero-based, and flexible budgeting.
• Learn the steps for developing a comprehensive budget.
• Understand how to identify discrepancies between budgeted and actual figures.
• Identify methods for predicting future financial performance based on historical data.
Participants can earn a Finance Fundamentals Micro-Certification through the American Society of Employers by attending this course and the following courses (Participants may also attend individual sessions for credit and not pursue the micro-certification.):
• Accounting Fundamentals on August 12 from 9:00am-12:30pm
• Budgeting Techniques on September 24 from 9:00am-12:30pm
• Financial Analysis and ROI on October 16 from 9:00am-12:30pm
• Finance for Non-Finance People on November 19 from 10:00am-3:30pm
