SBAM Names Owosso and Lansing Small Business Owners as 2022 Energy Champions

November 2, 2022

LANSING, MI – The Small Business Association of Michigan recently honored Indian Trails with its 2022 Consumers Energy Energy Champion award and Energy Specialties Group with its 2022 DTE Energy Champion Award.

Indian Trails received the award for working with SBAM to complete five different lighting projects in Owosso, Kalamazoo, and Romulus. These upgrades will result in several thousand dollars of energy savings each year.

“SBAM’s Energy Solutions program makes it possible for small businesses to improve energy efficiency while saving money,” said SBAM President & CEO Brian Calley. “Chad Cushman and the Indian Trails team took advantage of our programs and are reaping the benefits as a result.”

Indian Trails is one of Michigan’s premier charter and scheduled bus services since 1910. It is family owned and operated with corporate headquarters in Owosso, Michigan. They operate luxury motorcoaches that accommodate up to 56 passengers. They are committed to safety, reliability and top-notch customer service.

The Energy Specialties Group team received the award for being an advocate for SBAM’s energy programs, helping small businesses around the state with energy upgrades. The company continues to help small businesses become more energy efficient while saving money.

“Mike Goebel and his team have gone above and beyond on behalf of Michigan small businesses and that’s why they’re our 2022 DTE Energy Champion,” added SBAM President & CEO Brian Calley.

Energy Specialties maximizes business energy rebates on commercial LED conversions and electrical controls. The company is based in Lansing and serves small businesses around Michigan.

The awards were presented last week at SBAM’s annual Leadership Council Summit on Mackinac Island.
