LANSING, MI – The Small Business Association of Michigan last week honored state Rep. Donna Lasinki as its 2019 Legislator of the Year from the House Democratic Caucus.
“Michigan’s small businesses have a hero in state Rep. Donna Lasinski,” said SBAM President Brian Calley. “She is a respected leader who takes a thoughtful and inclusive approach to public policy and a strong friend to small business in Michigan. We are proud to honor her with this award.”
SBAM honored Rep. Lasinski, a small business owner herself, for leading the development of a small business-focused legislative package last term and getting her caucus to make it a priority. She also is a lead sponsor on the entrepreneurship-led economic development package being introduced this year.
“Small businesses are a staple of our economy and I’m proud to champion efforts to help us succeed in Michigan,” said Lasinski of Saline. “I am honored to be recognized by the Small Business Association of Michigan and am ready to continue efforts to keep our small businesses strong.”
The award was presented on Thursday, June 20 during SBAM’s Annual Meeting and Small Business Summit in Lansing.
Rep. Lasinski was first elected to the Michigan House of Representatives in Nov. 2016 and represents northern and western Washtenaw County.
The Small Business Association of Michigan focuses solely on serving the needs of Michigan’s small business community through advocacy, collaboration and buying power. Today they serve over 27,000 members in all 83 counties of Michigan. SBAM is located in Lansing, just one block from the Capitol.
