Small Business Association of Michigan Names Sen. Sarah Anthony as 2026 Legislator of the Year

LANSING, MI – The Small Business Association of Michigan (SBAM) has honored state Senator Sarah Anthony as a 2026 Legislator of the Year.
“Sen. Sarah Anthony has been an ardent advocate for small business owners,” SBAM President and CEO Brian Calley. “She is a pragmatic leader who puts the needs of Michigan residents first, supporting small businesses and their employees in a bipartisan and commonsense manner. We are grateful for her steadfast leadership and dedication to small business success.”

Small businesses are the backbone of our communities, creating jobs, supporting local economies, and helping our neighbors thrive,” said Sen. Sarah Anthony (D-Lansing), Chair of the Senate Appropriations Committee. “Supporting policies and investing in solutions that expand opportunity and strengthen Michigan’s economy has always been a priority for me. I appreciate SBAM’s continued advocacy on behalf of small business owners across our state.”
Anthony represents the 21st District in the Michigan Senate, which includes parts of Lansing and Lansing Township, and all of Eaton County, and the townships of Alaiedon, Aurelius, Bunker Hill, Delhi, Ingham, Leslie, Onondaga and Vevay Township, as well as the cities of Leslie and Mason. She is in her first term in the Michigan Senate, chairing the Senate Appropriations Committee. She previously served in the Michigan House of Representatives.
