Small Business Weekly Podcast – Episode 543 (13:07)
On a recent episode of The Small Business Weekly Podcast, Michael Rogers talks with Rick Snyder, former Michigan Governor and CEO of SensCy, a 2026 Michigan 50 Companies to Watch honoree, about helping small businesses navigate today’s growing cybersecurity threats.
SensCy was founded in 2022 with a mission to help small and medium-sized organizations become safer in an increasingly digital world. Snyder explains that cyberattacks are no longer a matter of if, but when, and that the consequences can be costly for businesses.
“Almost every organization is going to get attacked, and the implications of a successful attack can literally put somebody out of business or seriously threaten their business, threaten their reputation, cost them financial resources,” Snyder says. “The only time cybersecurity will be an organization’s top priority is the day they’re hacked and then it will consume their life. Short of that, I don’t expect nor would I want them to make it their top priority, but they need to make it a priority.”
The conversation highlights why cybersecurity should be part of every business’s overall strategy, regardless of size. Snyder emphasizes that leaders don’t need to be cybersecurity experts, but they do need to understand the risks and take practical steps to protect their organizations.
As cyber threats continue to evolve, Snyder encourages business owners to prioritize prevention and preparedness. Taking action before a cyberattack occurs can help protect a company’s operations, reputation, and long-term success.
