Call To Action – Permanent MIOSHA Rules
MIOSHA’s COVID-19 Rules have required businesses to dramatically change their day-to-day business practices since the beginning of the pandemic, but did you know that MIOSHA is pushing for these rules to become permanent?
The Department says that these regulations are needed because “Michigan’s experience with COVID-19 demonstrates that the disease can spread rapidly without protective measures and standards in place.” These regulations do not automatically expire when the pandemic is over, even if the state health department rescinds its epidemic orders or we hit Governor Whitmer’s vaccine thresholds in her “MI Vacc to Normal” plan.
Here’s some of the included rules –
- The employer shall create a policy prohibiting in-person work for employees to the extent that their work activities can feasibly be completed remotely
- Mandates businesses to require customers to wear face coverings
- Prohibits employees from sharing equipment and requires employers to “increase facility cleaning and disinfection”
Implementing permanent COVID-19 regulations will make us the second state in the nation to do so. COVID-19 will not last forever and neither should COVID-19 work rules.
Please use the module below to let MIOSHA know you OPPOSE new PERMANENT COVID-19 Workplace Safety Rules.
